Decided to upgrade to newer more powerful model unit - they deducted the full current retail cost of my original damaged unit from the cost of the upgraded unit - PLUS added student discount and extended warranty.

Had a Surface Book that crashed - still under warranty - after diagnostics determined a hardware failure with hard drive - no data recovery. Needed working replacement immediately. The one I had is out of stock world-wide, essentially - due to new Surface Book 2 roll-out.
